Final images of my piece from the computer and the setup.

FeedBack

October 20th, 2008

I got some good feedback after i set up my piece from the people who had a play around with it and to the people i showed and here are some of the things that i will look at in the last few days.

- The layering of grids causes a sense of confusion.

- The Wii remote is too sensitive and needs to be adjusted so people can control it.

- The walls need to have some colour or texture to give them definition.

Laser Cutting for the final Set up

October 20th, 2008

I laser cut a set of instructions on the laser cutter and a couple of boxes to place the Wii remote and virtual reality glasses. Ideally only one person can experience/navigate through the environment, however if you have another pair of virtual reality glasses then another person can view the 3D experience.

Experiencing the Space

October 20th, 2008

I set up my piece to see what it looked like in the area and get some feedback. I also got a few of the class members to have a play around and experience/navigate my environment with the 3D glasses on.

StereoGraphic Screen and Projectors

October 20th, 2008

I have decided to use the stereographic screen and projectors so i get the 3D virtual reality effect with my piece and DMDN lab is kind enough to allow me to use the screen and projectors. So i will be setting up my final installation in the DMDN lab using the stereographic screen and projectors.

Max Msp Patch

October 20th, 2008

This is the Max Msp patch that i used for my project. The patch is divided into a lot of sub patches. The main patch allows me to control the camera angle and access all the sub patches. The patch on the right hand side is the patch to control the Wii Remote. This was obtained from the following site

Virtual Environment

Here are some of the first images of my completed environment for testing and getting critical feedback.

.Obj Files - Skins

October 20th, 2008

I have had a lot of difficulty trying to get the models into max msp and just a few days ago Doug and Terry figured out the importing obj files was a permissions issue therefore i don’t have the administration rights to import the obj files. I have also considered not to use the skins in the project as i feel that with the aesthetic of the environment and the skins that these have become two separate concepts. The skins being more of a gaming type context and the environment being in the virtual context. So from here i will be focusing on the virtual environment and how i can make this piece interactive and relate to my design parameters.
